Sandy Island - 2019 Wonderful Animals

In 2019, two "Animals" series were issued. The first series covered especially wonderful animals from all around the world. Commemorative Issue "Peculiar Animals" - SI-201902

Sandy Island - 2019 Peculiar Animals

The second Animals series covered strange or peculiar animals. The first stamp shows a graphical depiction of a "Mail Cat" - apparently, the city of Liège in Belgium tried to train cats in 1879 to transport mail, an experiment which was not really successful. The second stamp shows a Sea Turtle titled "Sindacalista", (Trade Unionist) which is folding its front flaps under its body, as if on strike. The third stamp shows a lion family, a lioness surrounded by her cubs, with an African sunset scene in the background.

The series was printed in two printing runs, a first run without the year "2019" on the stamp image and a second, corrected one with "2019" in yellow added to the image. There are also sheet border differences.
