Joint Sovereign Base

Flag of the Joint Sovereign Base

The first Joint Sovereign Base was set up by the Republic of Capricornia, the Repubblica di Naquarnia and the Balanda Republic in summer 2021. It is located in the northern/central region of the Balanda Republic, with access to the Pejne river and the northern sea, serving as a training base for all branches of the Balanda, Capricornian and Naquarnian forces. The Balanda Republic has ceded sovereingty to the Joint Leadership of the base, with the right reserved to unilaterally rescind that sovereignty. As the JSB thus is legally outside the FM jurisdiction, its postal service is managed by CPEA, not directly by Capricornia Post or Posta tal Musograd, which is currently serving the Balanda Republic.

The flag of the JSB represents the green landscape, blue sky and the sun rising over the waters at the base. Its design deviates from the traditional diagonally oriented design of FM flags as the JSB does not have state- or territory-like status within the FM.

On 2023.01.01, the postal service contract with CPEA was extended to cover all Joint Sovereign Bases of the JSFM. The stamps issued for the Bristow JSB are valid for postage in those bases.

The Inauguration issue shows a view of the entrance to the main harbour of the base. The date of the inauguration, 2021.07.26, the JSB flag and the logo of CPEA are also displayed on the stamp. The stamp is to be used by non-military visitors of the base.

Definitve Issue "JSB Harbour 2021"

Definitive Issue - JSB Harbour 2021

A series of definitive stamps has been issued based on the same motive as the Inauguration issue, but in a smaller and altered format. The main difference is that the stamps have an appendix on their left side, separated by perforation. This appendix is to be used for tracking and control measures by the forces stationed at JSB. Any marking or signature applied to the appendix does not invalidate the stamp, and cancelled stamps are expected to have such a marking on the appendix. Stamps without a marking on the appendix may be sold to the public, but shipments franked with such non-marked stamps will be controlled by base security, with a respective marking applied to the appendix.

Commemorative Issue "Ivenack Oaks"

Commemorative Issue - Ivenack Oaks

The Ivenack Oaks are a nature monument in the vicinity of the JSB Bristow. The forest of giant ancient oaks came into existence through forest meadows which gave enough space and light to the oaks and removed competition. The oaks are estimated to be around 800 years old. The stamp shows one of the oaks, processed with AI filters. The stamp was issued in small sheets consisting of 2 x 5 stamps, with the top margins decorated with the JSB flag and the bottom margins with the CPEA logo.

The stamp is to be used by public communications offices and by visitors of the bases.
